Do you produce a fully extruded rabbit food? Yes, Optimum Rabbit is a fully extruded rabbit food to help prevent selective feeding that sometimes occurs with muesli mixes.

Does your rabbit food contain any artificial colours or flavours? No Wagg do not add any artificial colours or flavours to any of its food.

Are any of your rabbit foods a 'complete' diet? Yes, Optimum Rabbit and Bunny Time are complete diets. However we strongly recommend that you feed hay at all times for extra fibre and to help keep their teeth in good order. For additional information see our small animal nutrition section.

How much water does my rabbit need? Your rabbit should have a constant supply of fresh water preferably in a water bottle attached to the hutch to prevent contamination. Ensure this is cleaned out regularly particularly in hot weather when algae can form in it.

How do I prevent my rabbits teeth from overgrowing? To help prevent overgrowth of teeth provide plenty of hay for your rabbit to chew on. The provision of small safe twigs such as apple, hazel and willow can also help keep your rabbits teeth in good condition.

Can I supplement my rabbit's diet with fresh fruit and vegetables? Yes, you can supplement your rabbit's diet with fresh vegetables several times a week. New vegetables should be introduced gradually to prevent upsetting the digestive system. Recommended vegetables include: brocoli, sprouts, celery, peas and their pods, cabbage, carrots and carrot tops. We recommend that you feed fresh fruit for a treat only, as too much can cause your rabbit to put on weight and cause dental disease. Recommended fruit includes: apples, strawberries and their leaves, grapes, pears, blackberries and their leaves, plums and bananas.

How can I prevent my rabbit from becoming bored? In the wild rabbits spend a lot of time foraging for food. To encourage foraging scatter food around the hutch, provide your rabbit with toys to keep him or her occupied during the day and spend some time with your rabbit they are sociable animals and enjoy company.

Will my rabbit cope well with hot summer temperatures? No, rabbits do not deal with extreme heat very well, as their main source of heat loss is through their ears. Tips to keep your rabbit cool in hot weather are as follows: Provide plenty of cool fresh water at all times. To lower the temperature of the hutch, freeze half filled plastic bottles of water and place in the hutch. Your rabbit may lie on them to cool down. Spray your rabbit's ears with a fine mist of cool(not cold)water. Keep your rabbit out of direct sunlight at all times.

Will my rabbit cope well with cold winter temperatures? Rabbits can generally deal with cold weather more effectively than hot. It is however, important to keep them dry and out of the wind. Tips to help keep your rabbit warm are as follows: Always provide hay for them to eat (for extra calories) and to borrow into. If you bring your rabbit indoors use the coolest room you have to prevent shocking the rabbit when they go back outside. Place blankets over the hutch to keep drafts out. Provide water at all times, if it freezes replace with fresh water.

I keep my guinea pig and rabbit in the same hutch for companionship, can I feed them the same food? No, guinea pigs have different dietary requirements to rabbit's, they have a particular requirement for extra vitamin C. We recommend that you always feed a specific guinea pig food.
