Small Animals
Fact Sheets
Rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and gerbils all like to chew on small twigs and branches, as this helps to keep their teeth in good order.
Clean fresh water should be provided every day and please change their bedding frequently.
Don’t forget that rabbits like to have a bit of variety in their diet so make sure you provide fresh hay all the time for extra fibre and fresh washed greens 2 - 3 times per week. Rabbits also like to vary the amount of food they eat each day, so use your own experience to decide how much to feed them at any one time. If they eat everything, just give them a bit more. If there is some left, then give them a bit less.
Wagg Optimum Rabbit and Optimum Guinea Pig
Wagg now produce two single high fibre extruded diets, Optimum Rabbit and Optimum Guinea Pig. These have been formulated to help overcome the problem of selective feeding that can occur when rabbits and guinea pigs are fed a muesli diet. The Optimum ‘all in one’ pellet ensures your pet receives all the nutrients they need in one tasty mouthful, which means improved digestion and a healthy immune system.
Even though the Optimum range is high in fibre, we always recommend that fresh hay is available at all times.
