Wagg Announces New Recruits
01/03/2006
Wagg, the market leading value-for-money dry dog food specialist, has appointed two new Business Development Executives with a brief to build the Wagg brand and deliver new products to the market through effective working relationships with the independent retailer sector.
Linda Mitchell and Max Taylor each bring substantial knowledge of pet foods and the pets business to the newly created roles, the introduction of which is designed to coincide with the re-launch of Wagg brands, and to give a stronger market presence to Wagg products.
Linda, who will be responsible for developing the company’s distribution network and strengthening relationships with Wagg customers in the independent retail sector in an area to the south of the trans-Pennine M62, enjoyed a long career in corporate sales and marketing before embarking on a five year spell in the retail pet trade as the owner manager of her own pet shop in Coventry.
“I will be maintaining our existing customer base, offering them even better contact with Wagg than they have had in the past” said Linda “but at the same time I will be developing new relationships and bolstering still further our distribution network, particularly in the independent retail sector. I’ve always loved animals and the years I have spent in the retail pet business will enable me to have huge empathy with the pet retailers that I will be working with, and to understand what they need from a pet food supplier.”
In addition to developing business with independent retailers, Max’s brief, as Wagg’s new Business Development Manager for Northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, will be to extend relationships with agricultural merchants and pet wholesalers.
Max brings almost four decades of pet trade experience to his new role, having worked in senior sales functions for both Spillers and Dalgetty since the 1960s.
“Wagg products represent everything that most pet and animal owners are looking for in a food product“ said Max “specifically, guaranteed quality from a reliable business partner at an affordable price. Successful new business development in the north under the revamped Wagg brand will depend on getting that message across to customers and potential customers.”
